count down.....Views: 452

4 more taxol treatments to go….and counting! I am looking forward to the end of these treatments. I am getting to the point that I am wondering/worrying about “after treatment”. I am starting to worry about cancer coming back, what is the follow-up? Will things be “normal” again….when? I know it probably normal…just new for me. I am scheduled for 33 radiation treatments, but recently heard on the news that a new protocal with 1/2 of those is just as effective as the 33. Does anyone know of any information about this? If I plan it right I may be able to be done with these treatments in 2008….before my new deductible kicks in again! Let’s home so!

Hi good to hear from you,it has been a while.

Hope less is better. Good luck.

Sherri

Hi Karin,, glad to hear that your treatment are almost over,, I don’t know how things went for you during the treatment but I am sure that you also had your ups and downs with it… After my chemo treatment my family doctor asked me if i was taking vitamin “D” ,, of course i said no.
He then pointed out to me that Vitamin “D” helps to slow down the cancer and even in some case elimated it all together.. So 2 years ago i started taking 8000 iu which is 8 small pills per day 4 in the morning and 4 at dinner, and in 2 years my cancer has only increase 1.4 centimetres
in size which is less than 1/4 of and inche..
Fabulous,, people that i have met since january 2006 until not did not realize that i had cancer unless i told them.. so talk to your doctore about it and see what he says… it sure did help me ,, I knew when i finished my chemo on jan 29 2006 that i would require more,, but even my chemo doctor is surprise that it is growing at a slow pace,, God is good …
So i hope that when you are finished chemo and ready to start radiation,, hey don’t be afraid ,, when having the radiation you don’t feel anything you don’t see anything ,, and once they get you on the table and get all set up then it won’t take any longer than a minute for them to do it
So we shall keep you in our prayers, that all go well for you and God bless….

Here’s prayers that your math is dead on and 1/2 is better.

Good luck and God bless
Mac

Hi Karin,

I check into the same 1/2 of radiation treatments. They use higher doses and my Radiation oncologist told me it could do breast damage. You might want to ask yours to see if that is still true. Believe it or not the treatments go by quick. I just finished 25 6 weeks ago. You are in my prayers.

Hi Karen,

I started taking vitamin D a few months ago when I read about its help in preventing cancer from returning. I asked my cancer doctor first and he at first said there was no benefit & I told him that I read that it did. He suddenly brightened up and said that you know it does help prevent cancer from returning. I gave him one of those Ethel looks like, are you OK doc?? You got a problem? You just contradicted yourself. smile

I told him I was going to take the vitamin D. You see, I didn’t really care what he said, I was going to take it anyway because it might help.

So, ask your doctor, maybe he will give you a straight answer—I don’t think my doctor knew what a straight answer was—but he does now. smile

Sorry, Karin,

I pressed the wrong button and I didn’t get to add:

Love, hugs and prayers to you and yours.

sweete2 better known as Ethel Craven-Sweet, the sweet 1. tee hee hee Did that make you laugh???!
