Last Taxol this weekViews: 226

Boy am I ready! Between the aches and tiredness I don’t think I could do much more. Having my port taken out 10/29 and then starting radiation the week of 10/11 for 5-6 weeks.
Hopefully it won’t make me too tired as I am still trying to work pretty much full time. DOes anyone have any experience or helpful tips for radiation? I am looking forward to getting through treatments by the end of the year hopefully! Oh to have a normal schedule again!

Yay, Karin! I’m so happy for you that your chemo is almost done!

I just finished radiation and I can tell you that it does make you tired. I should say that I did not have chemo first, and that will make your experience different from mine. However, I’d suggest that, if you want to continue working, you should try to make your appointments as late in the day as possible, then rest in the evenings. Cook as much as you can on Sundays, when you’re likely to feel your most energetic, then you won’t have to push yourself during the week. Unlike chemo, rads don’t make you tired immediately after the treatment, but it builds up during the week and each week is a little more tiring.

You’ll be fine. For BC, rads is generally the easy part, compared to chemo. Use an ointment or cream on the area EVERY DAY, starting on day 1 and drink a lot of water. It’ll be over before you know it.

Peace,
Kathy

Thanks so much for the advice. I think I’ll do some freezer meals on sunday then. I subscribe to a recipe service that has that option, so it sounds like a good one with 2 teens and an elderly mom to also look after. Thanks again and I hope all is well with you!
